Jet Set were formed in 1999 with the intention of bringing traditional Border Morris to our area – the moors and coastline between Whitby and Saltburn – with a few minor changes.
Our dances are based on local folklore and centre around the town of Whitby, a place steeped in legend and tradition, from Hilda the Sorceress, to Caedmon, the first English poet.
Jet Set have adopted an Edwardian Gothic style of dress. Our ladies wear black dresses, with a hint of colour and the gentlemen of our company compliment the look, being dressed in plain black trousers and waistcoats, white shirts with a coloured cravat.
Tradition demands that Border Morris dancers should never reveal their identity whilst performing, so we always wear dark glasses for disguise.
